Jon Thomas Sharp

Jon Thomas Sharp, 80 years old, of Alden, NY passed away Monday morning, November 23, 2015 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence, NY after a brief illness.

Jon was born December 6, 1934 in Portland, NY, the son of the late Edgar and Daphine Farnham Sharp. He lived in the area until 1975, at which time he moved to Boston, MA, making his home there until 2010. He then moved to Alden, NY and lived there until the present day. He was a 1953 graduate of Brocton Central School. He also served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957. Jon then attended Bryant and Stratton in Buffalo, graduating from there in 1960. After moving to Boston he became manager of Boston Sand And Gravel Co. in Boston. Jon also was a volunteer for Hearts and Hand in Alden.

He is survived by one son, Christopher (Carey) Sharp of Austin, MN; one daughter, Mrs. Susan (Matthew) Flannery of Milford, MA; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his fiance, JoAnn Hurley of Alden, NY. Jon was predeceased by his wife, Alice Johnson Sharp, who passed away in 1988; his second wife, Mary Ellen (Reinertson) Sharp, whom he was married to for 18 years and who passed away in 2009; and one sister, Mrs. Linda Sharp Laurie.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 28 at 11 a.m. from the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, NY. The Rev. Ivy Gauvin of St. Marks' Lutheran Church in Mayville, NY will officiate. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery. There will be no prior visitation.
