Henrietta H. Borowski

Henrietta H. Borowski, 98, of Jamestown, formerly of Dunkirk, died Thursday evening, February 4, 2016 at Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown, NY. She was born May 31, 1917 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late S. Edward and Hattie (Stefaniak) Konwinski.

Henrietta was co-owner with her husband of Borowski's Red and White Grocery Store. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by several dress shops in Dunkirk, being sought after for her style and fashion sense.

She continued this interest in fashion throughout her lifetime. Henrietta also enjoyed entertaining and her home was the main social gathering location for her family.

Her memberships included Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig, the parish Ladies Society, Sacred Heart Society, Holy Rosary Society, and she was a volunteer at Bingo along with many church functions.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary (Robert) Borowski-Burns of Bemus Point; brother, Dr. Edward Konwinski of Bradford, PA; nieces, Patricia Borowski Walgate of Grand Island, Anne Rutkowski of Dunkirk and Laurie Konwinski of Ithaca; and nephews, Jack Anderson of Mechanicsburg, PA, Robert Anderson, Edward Konwinski, and Donald Konwinski, all of Bradford, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Borowski; brothers, Clement and Richard Konwinski; sisters, Mildred Rutkowski and Angeline Anderson; nephew, Joseph Rutkowski; and dear sister-in-law, Helen Borowski.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Sunday, February 7 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Prior to that, the Parish Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 1:30 PM Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Februar 8 at 10:00 AM at Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, 715 Falconer Street, Jamestown, NY 14701 or Blessed Mary Angela Parish, 324 Townsend Street, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
