Richard J. Husch

Richard J. Husch, 93, a resident of the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, died Friday morning, February 5, 2016 at Brooks Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born December 23, 1922 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Davison) Husch.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Richard served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He had been employed as a manufacturing supervisor at Dunkirk Radiator Corp.

Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 62, where he served as past commander; former president of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Lions Club, and member of the Dunkirk Lakeside Club.

He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail Husch and Nancy (Peter) Meister, both of Hamburg; one son, David Husch of Vestal; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Richard) Kraft, Jeffrey (Christina) Klaus, Christine Meister, Hayley Meister, Joel Husch, and Andrew Husch; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean (Wilson) Husch, who died May 7, 2014; one daughter, Sally Klaus; four sisters, Betty Ahrens, Norma Hagberg, Lois Tyszko, and Katherine Husch; and one brother, Russell Davison.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
