Arthusa "Peg" Waite (nee Cooper), 91, entered into rest on Monday, May 2, 2016. She was born July 10, 1924 in Cherry Creek, the daughter of the late Guy and Elva (Damon) Cooper.
Loving wife of the late Lawrence A. Waite, Sr.; cherished mother of Lawrence A. (Marlene) Waite, Jr.; grandmother of Jeremy Waite and Stephanie (Kurtis) Shampine; great-grandmother to Amanda Waite and Matthew Shampine. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Wayland Cooper, Verland Cooper, Arlene Lampson and Adelaide Payne.
Peg was tax collector for 24 years for the Town of Cherry Creek.
She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Cherry CreekLeon United Methodist Church, where she was the assistant treasurer. Peg will be remembered for her homemade pies, popcorn balls at Halloween, and playing cards with the Thursday Ladies Group.
Relatives and friends may visit DiStasio-Hills Funeral Chapel Inc., 478 Route 83 at Balcom Corners in South Dayton on Thursday, May 5 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM, with a service to be held on Friday, May 6 at the Cherry Creek-Leon United Methodist Church on Main Street in Cherry Creek (please assemble at church). Interment will be in the Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.
