Lillian Carpenter

Lillian Carpenter, 94, of Sinclairville passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born February 19, 1922 in Stockton, the daughter of the late Jens and Etta May Van Selus Christiansen. She was a 1939 graduate of Cassadaga High School.

Lillian was employed for 13 years as a secretary/receptionist at the Stockton Elementary School, retiring in 1981.

She enjoyed music and in earlier years was a soloist with the Cassadaga Community Concert Band, sang at various churches throughout Chautauqua County, and hosted a radio show on WJTN. She was past president and a volunteer with the Sinclairville 76ers and Meals on Wheels program for more than 30 years, served as the first senior aide in the Sinclairville Office For the Aging and was a member and past president of the David Vern Luce American Legion Post.

Wife of 13 years to the late Russell C. Carpenter, whom she married June 21, 1947, and died December 23, 1960; mother of Russell C. (Judy) Carpenter, Jr. of Jamestown; grandmother of Emily Carpenter of Bemus Point; companion of 12 years to the late Bernard Thompson.

Funeral services are private. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.

Memorials may be made to Sinclairville 76ers, or an American Legion Post of your choice.
