Dewey Winchell IV of Fredonia, NY died early Thursday morning, May 19, 2016 at his home with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on March 18, 1984, the son of Donna Logan and Dewey Winchell III.
Dewey graduated from Fredonia High School in 2002. He was employed at Robert's Jewelers and was an assistant manager at Donna's Jewelers, both in Fredonia. Dewey also worked at JNK Wildlife Animals in Sinclairville, NY.
Dewey enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially deer and turkey. He was an avid bird watcher, enjoying all species. His greatest enjoyment was 4-wheeling and hiking. He also enjoyed following the New York Mets and Giants.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Jessica (Brian Manning) Winchell of Fredonia, NY; a grandfather, Dewey Winchell, Jr.; and his nieces, Brena, Sarah, and Kyra. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and other nieces and nephews. Also a special thanks to David Grabias for his help and support. Dewey was predeceased by a brother, Justin, who died at birth; and his grandparents, Edward and Virginia Logan and Elizabeth Winchell.
Per Dewey's request, there will be no prior visitation. A Celebration Life Service for Dewey will be held at the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club (The Con Club), 1 North Mullet Street, Dunkirk, NY on Saturday, June 18 at 2 p.m.
