Mark Richard Denea, 55 of Perrysburg died on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.
He was the beloved husband to Mary (Allen) Denea for 34 years; son of the late Deanna Denea and Richard Denea of Gowanda; brother of Michael P. Denea of Phoenix, AZ; father of Tanya (David) Barnes of Perrysburg; Timothy Denea of West Seneca and Tricia Denea, also of West Seneca; and grandfather to Colin Barnes and Alexandra Barnes of Perrysburg.
Mr. Denea was an officer for the New York State Department of Corrections until his retirement in 2014, and also a farmer and farrier. He owned and managed Tara View Farm, where he and his family raised Texas Longhorn Cattle, Fallow Deer, and recently Registered Angus Cattle. Mark was considered by many to be one of the best horseshoers of pleasure horses in Western New York for 35 years. He loved horses and was an avid barrel racer. Prior to corrections, Mark was employed with the Gernatt/Collins Horse Farms working with trotting and pacing horses.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 2:00 pm at the Cattaraugus United Methodist Church in Cattaraugus. All who knew Mark are very welcome to attend. Arrangements were made with Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 E. Main St. in Gowanda, and Mark will be buried in the Versailles Cemetery.
