Joseph R. Brown, 36, of Fredonia died Sunday evening, August 21, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, PA while surrounded by his loving family. Joe fought a heroic and courageous battle where he ultimately succumbed to complications from multiple heart surgeries. He was born February 4, 1980 in Kenmore, the son of Joseph D. and Patricia (Siskar) Brown of Fredonia.
A lifelong area resident, Joseph was a graduate of Fredonia High School, Class of 1998, a graduate apprentice and proud member of the Boilermakers Local 7 in Orchard Park, NY.
Joe was a devoted husband and father. He had a brilliant mind and a beautiful soul and was known for his wit and generous spirit. He was also known for his sarcasm and hysterical practical jokes. Joe was fiercely protective of his loved ones, and, for Joe, family always came first.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Christen (Gillson) Brown, whom he married September 28, 2013; his children, Joey, Haley and Mick; one sister, Amanda Brown of Fredonia; two brothers, David (Sarah) Brown of Dunkirk and Ryan (Deanna) Brown of Fredonia; paternal grandmother, Margaret Brown of Fredonia; maternal grandparents, Robert and Marion Siskar of Fredonia; seven brousins, Kevin, Jess, Ben, John, Danny, Sarah, and Brittney; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph H. Brown; and two uncles, Robert M. Siskar and Richard G. Brown.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Friday, August 26 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
