Jane A. O'Donnell, 87, of Hanford Bay, Silver Creek, NY passed away Saturday evening, September 24, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital.
Jane was born on November 7, 1928 in Batavia, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Brice) Amidon. She lived for many years in Kenmore before moving to Hanford Bay.
Jane graduated from Batavia High School, Class of 1946, Marygrove College in Detroit, MI, and Buffalo State College, where she earned a Master's degree. She taught at schools 21, 56, and 81 in Buffalo. Her memberships included St. Anthony's Church in Farnham, the Tri-County Country Club, and Friends of Anderson Lee Library.
She was a Literacy Volunteer, teaching English as a Second Language.
Jane is survived by two daughters, Kathleen M. O'Donnell and Molly (Michael McGahan), both of Chicago, IL; two sons, Mark J. (Nancy Tait) O'Donnell of Holland, MI and Timothy J. (Kitty) O'Donnell of Skaneateles, NY; and four grandchildren, Caitlin (Christopher) Fields, Christopher O'Donnell, Molly (Hao) Meng and Paul O'Donnell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard T. O'Donnell; a brother, Edward Amidon; and a sister, Ruth Kuhl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 29 at 10 a.m. from St. Anthony's Church, 417 Commercial St., Farnham, NY. Please assemble at the church beginning 9:30 a.m. There will be no public visitation.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Jane's memory be made to the Anderson Lee Library, 43 Main St., Silver Creek, NY 14136.
