Chester B. Woloszyn

Chester B. Woloszyn, 89, of Dunkirk passed away Saturday morning, October 22, 2016 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilition Center after a lengthy illness.

Chester was born in Dunkirk on October 31, 1926, son of the late George and Katherine (Gomiela) Woloszyn.

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Chester attended the former St. Hedwig's School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946.

Following his service to his country, Chester was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 40 years.

Memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish and lifelong member of St. Hedwig's R.C. Church, Kosciuszko Polish Home and past officer, First Ward Falcon Club, and American Leigon Post #62.

Chester enjoyed bowling and traveled out of the state to attend tournaments, he also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Many of his ornaments were on display in his gardens.

Surviving is his brother, John A. Woloszyn of Dunkirk; sisters-in-law, Delphine and Audrey Woloszyn, both of Dunkirk; along with several nieces and nephews of which his nieces took care of him when he first took ill, Patricia Lowe, Stacey Cieslewicz, Katherine Tilley and Diane Lowe. Preceded in death, in addition to his parents, are brothers, Michael, Joseph, Edward Woloszyn; and sisters, Stella Cieslewicz and Genevieve Krzakala.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Tuesday, October 25 from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 26 at 10:00 AM in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Hedwig's Cemetery, 324 Townsend St., Dunkirk, NY 14048; or Lake Shore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
