Margaret Jane Maggio

Margaret Jane "Janie" (Hindman) Maggio, age 79, of Myrtle Avenue, Brocton died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility of Jamestown following an extended illness. She was born on March 20, 1937 in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Joseph Carl and Mabel Virginia (McKinley) Hindman.

A resident of Chautauqua County since age 4, Janie was a graduate of Westfield Academy and Central Schools. Janie had been employed as a nurse's aide at the former Margaret Anthony Nursing Home on Lake Shore Drive in Dunkirk and retired from the former Chautauqua County Home and Infirmary after 17 years of service. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard Maggio. Jane had also been employed by the Main Diner as well as the former Pinters Restaurant, both in Westfield. She enjoyed gardening, especially Roses and loved music of all kinds. She had been a member of the Westfield Community Chorus for many years and enjoyed singing. She loved to read and travel. She recently enjoyed a family trip to Ireland with her daughters and granddaughters. Jane's main focus and love in life was the time spent with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Richard A. Maggio of Brocton; and her two daughters, Ivanna L. (Heinz) Wolff of Westfield and Tracey (Marcus) Spinuzza of Silver Creek. She is also survived by her two sisters, Patricia Ann Hughes of Cambridge, OH and Susan Tenbroeck of Latham, NY; as well as her two brothers, Harry Joe Hindman of Westfield and David Hindman of Portland. Eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Duane Drier, also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Jo Drier and her sister, Prudence Josephine "Jo" Marques.

At Jane's request, no visitation will be observed, and all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brocton Fire Dept., 80 Lake Ave., Brocton, NY 14716 or to the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, 7540 North Gale St., Westfield, NY 14787.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY 14787.
