Robert R. Woodard, "The Poor Man's Friend," 89, of Jamestown, formerly of Cassadaga, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at UPMC Chautauqua WCA. Born March 26, 1927 in Jamestown, son of the late Albert and Myrtle Snyder Woodard.
He had attended Cassadaga Valley Central School and during his younger years, enjoyed playing football, running track and was a Golden Gloves Boxer.
Bob was employed and self-employed in the auto industry in sales for over 40 years. From 1982, he sponsored amateur flag football, softball and basketball teams under the name "Woodard's Warriors."
Father of Jeffrey (Karen), Duane (Ruby) and Thomas (Marilyn) Woodard, Gizelle Carnahan and the late Carolann Woodard; grandfather of Rachael, Jennifer, Kristen, Jonathan, Matthew, Jessica, Heidi, Nicole, Mary and Conner; great-grandfather of 13 and one great-great-granddaughter; brother of the late Marjorie (late Duane) Lenna; uncle of Marcia (Brad Werlin) and Diana McQueen.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14 in the Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. A private burial of remains service will be held Saturday, July 15 at 11:00 AM at Cassadaga Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
