Frank W. Barth, 71, of Silver Creek died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. He was born in Gowanda on June 9, 1945, the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Kinn) Barth.
He attended Pine Valley Central High School in South Dayton, left school and enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 15, 1962, where he became a sharpshooter and a paratrooper for the 101st Airborne. Upon completion of his military duties, he enrolled at SUNY Fredonia studying criminology. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the State University of New York College of Buffalo in 1974. Frank worked for the Gowanda Police Department for a few years until he decided to venture out on his own. He purchased a number of apartments in Buffalo and became a landlord.
In his free time, he enjoyed reading nonfiction books, anything to do with the military, astronomy or politics. He loved to listen to music, and he played the guitar and piano. Frank gave to causes that fit his personality; he was proud to be a staunch Democrat and was a former member of the Silver Creek VFW Post 6472.
