William M. Sobczak, 78, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, January 16, 2018 at home. He was born November 27, 1939 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Michael and Anna (O'Brocta) Sobczak.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mr. Sobczak served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1961. He had been employed as a custodian for the Fredonia Central School System.
William was a member of the Moniuszko Club, First Ward Falcon Club, and the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club. He enjoyed spending time with his canine grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara L. (Bleck) Sobczak; two sons, Timothy (Kristen Holt) Sobczak of Fredonia and Thomas (Lynne) Sobczak of Churchville, NY; one daughter, Susan (Kevin) Malkowski of Fredonia; two grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Malkowski; one brother, Daniel (Sharon) Sobczak of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Jordan.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
