Joyce Blodgett

Joyce Blodgett, 83 years old, of Fredonia, formerly of Brocton, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 13, 1935 in Chichester, NY to Jesse and Ethelynd (Van Etten) Craig.

Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melony and Albert Feser of Dunkirk; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Blodgett of Clermont, FL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Krul, Alison Feser, Kayleah Feser, Craig Blodgett and Makenzie (David) Williams; along with her treasured great-grandchildren, Claire and Colette Krul and Damion Williams. She will further be missed by her brother, James (Barbara) Craig; and several nieces and nephews. Joyce also leaves behind her dear shih tzu, Toby. Joyce is reunited with her beloved late husband of 53 years, Kenneth Blodgett, Sr.; and her son, Kenneth Blodgett, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Avis Sprague and Sheila Lus; and her brother, Jesse Craig.

Joyce will be remembered as a dynamic, creative, and fiercely loving woman. After retiring from a long career as the district business manager for Brocton Central Schools, Joyce worked as the office manager for the late Dr. Joseph Muscarella in Fredonia.

Joyce was well known for her talent as an artist and taught courses in decorative painting across Western New York. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years. She also belonged to the Kiwanis Club of Fredonia, the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club and the American Legion JW Dill Post 434 Auxiliary.

Along with art and her involvement in the community, Joyce loved shopping, traveling, country music and spending time with dear friends. She was never happier than when with her family; Joyce always said her greatest legacy would be her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the contributions they make in the world.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the WCA Home, 134 Temple Street, Fredonia, NY 14063; or the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation Kenneth C. Blodgett, Jr. Criminal Justice Scholarship, 212 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
