Saturday Sports Update -- January 7, 2017

Silver Creek with mixed results on the hardwood on Friday...NFL Playoffs kick off today...and are Taylor's days in Buffalo numbered?  Greg Larson has more details on today's Saturday Sports Update...

Saturday Sports Update

Top: These will be the four quarterbacks in action today as the 2016 NFL Playoffs get underway.  Quarterback issues have been the main discussion around the AFC Wild Card game between the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans.  The Raiders will start third-stringer Connor Cook, who got pressed into service after Derek Carr and Matt McGloin got injured.  Meantime, the Texans turn to Brock Osweiler, who got benched late in the regular season but returned last week after Tom Savage suffered a concussion.  The NFC Wild Card game figures to be the much more attractive of the two matchups, with Matthew Stafford leading the Detroit Lions and Russell Wilson under center for the Seattle Seahawks.

Bottom left: Is this the end of the road for Tyrod Taylor in Buffalo?  ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday that the Bills are planning to "move on" from Taylor, who has been the team's starting quarterback for the last two seasons.  The report is contrary to comments made by Bills GM Doug Whaley during his end-of-season news conference earlier in the week.  Photo by the Buffalo News

Bottom right: Chautauqua Lake's Aaron Swan rises for a shot in the paint on Friday against Maple Grove.  Swan scored only seven points, but also added five rebounds and seven assists in the Thunderbirds' 74-59 victory over Maple Grove.  The Chautauqua Lake boys are now 8-1 on the season.  Photo by the Post-Journal
