Saturday Sports Update
Top: Friday night saw different results for the Dunkirk Marauders the Fredonia-Westfield-Brocton Badgers in Week 3 of high school football action. Quantavis Kleckley (left) scored a touchdown in the first half as part of a dominating performance by the Marauders. They crushed East Aurora 49-6 to improve to 3-0 this season. Meanwhile, FWB had a better showing than last week, but quarterback Reid Tarnowski (right) and his teammates could not hold a 12-6 halftime lead against Albion. The Badgers lost by a score of 20-12, dropping their record to 1-2. Photos by the Observer
Bottom: The Cleveland Indians show their appreciation for their fans Friday night as they get a standing ovation at Progressive Field following a 4-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Why the ovation? The Tribe managed to set a modern-day Major League Baseball record with 22 consecutive wins before last night's one-run loss. Those who take ties into account will say the record still belongs to the 1916 New York Giants (26 wins), but I think it's safe to say that any team who can rattle off that many victories in a row deserves the applause.
