Sunday Sports Update

Top left: So far, the American League Championship Series has been dominated by great pitching from both the New York Yankees and Houston Astros.  But the Astros have had more clutch hits.  On Saturday in Game 2, Carlos Correa knocked a one-out single to right field in the bottom of the 9th to bring home Jose Altuve and give the Astros a 2-1 victory.  The series goes back to New York on Monday, with the Yanks down 2-0.  Photo by USA Today

Top right: The Buffalo Bills are on a bye this week, but Bills fans will be keeping an eye on the New England Patriots and New York Jets this afternoon, as they face each other at MetLife Stadium.  Both teams, along with the Bills, are in a three-way tie for first atop the AFC East with 3-2 records.  The Jets have been the most surprising of the three teams; they've won three in a row after losing their first two.  Photo by buffalobills.com

Bottom left: Jack Eichel scores during the 3rd period of the Buffalo Sabres' game against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.  Eichel's goal tied the game at 2-2, but the Sabres gave up two goals in the final two minutes to lose 4-2.  In five games so far this season, the Sabres have just one point.  Image by MSG

Bottom right: All the matchups are now official for the Section VI high school football playoffs, which begin on Friday.  In Class B, Dunkirk will play host to Albion.  Matchups in Class C include JFK at Silver Creek and Falconer-Cassadaga Valley at Wilson.  And in Class D, Chautauqua Lake will be hosting Salamanca.  Photo by Ron Szot
