This month will also be the start of something special. A new DeMolay Chapter is in the process of being started in Chautauqua County, to meet at Forest Lodge. The Chapter, to be named “Chadwick Bay” Chapter, will be sponsored by Dunkirk Irondequiot Lodge #301, which is in the process of consolidating with Forest Lodge. NY DeMolay is a youth organization, under the jurisdiction of DeMolay International, for young men ages 12-21, which strives to shape it’s members into leaders of character. From the website, DeMolay.org: “By epitomizing timeless values, and accepting the challenge of leadership - both of character and of action - the young men of DeMolay transform themselves into citizens of the highest caliber. Each young man takes ownership of his DeMolay experience. From generating ideas, planning events, coordinating logistics, and executing their plans, each DeMolay Chapter is responsible for defining their success. All of this is accomplished under the mentorship of trained Advisors, selected from the local community, enabling each Chapter to be uniquely tailored to support the interests of its members. DeMolay is an inclusive organization that only asks of young men interested to believe in a higher being. A high level of involvement and enthusiasm is far more important for success in DeMolay than any particular skill or ability.” As a part of this kick-off, Joseph Newton from Dunkirk, the Master Councilor of Meridian Sun chapter in West Seneca, will be hosting a Veterans Hygiene Drive at the breakfast this coming Sunday. Hygiene and personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, shaving supplies, deodorant, etc, will be collected for Veterans One Stop out of Buffalo. Monetary donations for Veterans One Stop, and VALOR WNY, which operates the Veterans Food Drive in Tonawanda, may be also made. Please make checks payable to Meridian Sun Demolay, with “Veterans Service Project” in the memo line. For more information on DeMolay or the Masons, the benefits both personal and to the community, and how to join either organization, please contact Richard Newton at (716)673-5378, or stop by the breakfast and speak to a member.
