The Lakeshore Humane Society's 19th Annual Giant Yard Sale will be held Saturday, August 19 from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday, August 20 from 9 am to 3 pm in Floral Hall at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, 1089 Central Avenue in Dunkirk. There will be one day only of early bird shopping on Friday, August 18 from 9 am to 4 pm. (For the early bird shopping day only, there is a $2 entrance fee.) There will also be a bake sale, basket drawings, and drawing for a homemade cat quilt and homemade dog quilt all three days. Hot dogs and drinks will be sold on Friday from noon to 3 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. This event is LHS's biggest fundraiser of the year, as the organization works to help companion animals be safe and healthy, and find permanent, loving homes. Gently used items to be contributed to the Yard Sale can be dropped off at Floral Hall Tuesday, August 15 and Wednesday, August 16 from 10 am to 7 pm. LHS respectfully asks that donated objects be in saleable condition. Also, please, no large appliances, microwaves, metal bed springs, tires, magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, clothing, shoes, suitcases, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, electronics (TVs, computer monitors, towers and printers), or outdoor plants. (Due to NYS regulations involving invasive species, LHS regrets that it cannot sell outdoor plants. LHS can only sell indoor house plants.) Drop-offs of donated items will not be accepted on Thursday, August 17. LHS appreciates the community's support of this major fundraiser. If anyone would like to volunteer to assist in the work at the Yard Sale, please call the LHS Adoption Center at 716-672-1991 and leave a message.
