An Imbolc Gathering will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua (UUCNC), located at 222 Temple Street in Fredonia on Friday, February 2 at 5:30 pm. Imbolc, St. Brigid’s Day, Candlemas, and Groundhog Day all occur around February 2, which is the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox. Imbolc is the first major Sabat of the Celtic calendar and marks the New Year on their cyclical calendar. It is a festival of the anticipation of spring and new possibilities. To celebrate this Wiccan holiday, UUCNC’s Green Sanctuary team will host an intergenerational celebration at our meeting house on Friday, February 2. Festivities will start at 5:30 pm with an intergenerational craft activity and churning of butter, followed by a vegetarian meal. At 7pm we will partake in a circle candlelight service.
