Space STEM Camp Online Registration
Wednesday, March 5 2025 1:00 AM - 1:00 AM
Space STEM Camp is fueling up to blast off into a third year of academic, hands-on exploration of all things space, serving rising 7th - 9th grade students in the Western NY and Northwestern PA region. Camp runs daily July 14 - 18, 2025, and will be based at Jamestown Community College's Jamestown Campus this year. Students will learn about the history of space observations and explorations, build and keep their own Galileo-type telescopes, learn how to use the 24? telescope at the observatory, and build and launch model rockets. Throughout the week, campers are immersed in exciting activities around the physics of light and stars, chemistry, physiology, astronomy, international space policy and aerospace engineering and design. Traveling daily to the Martz-Kohl Observatory, students will learn about and use telescopes and planispheres to better understand our night sky and become part of a community of star gazers. Returning as our guest speaker this year is Dr. Alexandra Yep, who will join an impressive staff of local astronomers, physicists, professors and other professionals committed to creating an unforgettable experience for our youth. The program is the result of an on-going partnership between Falconer Central Schools and the Martz-Kohl Observatory and is only made possible through generous donations from local sponsors and volunteers. Online registration will open on March 5, 2025, on the Martz-Kohl Observatory website. There is a $50 registration fee. If you have questions about registration, please contact Mary Plumb at Falconer Central Schools.
