Electrical Issue Triggers Morning Blaze at Tri-County Country Club

An electrical malfunction is being blamed for a fire that destroyed part of a building early Sunday morning in the Town of Hanover. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reports that Forestville Fire received mutual aid from numerous area departments in battling the fire at the Tri-County Country Club clubhouse on Route 39 just after 6:00 AM. Forestville Fire stated on its Facebook page that crews began an initial attack, but they had to back out due to a flashover and collapse of the roof, and Silver Creek's tower ladder was used to put out the fire. Two firefighters were treated for minor burns, with one of them going to a local hospital. The county's Fire Investigation Team determined that the fire originated in the southeast corner of the building and was accidental in nature. In a Facebook post, the Tri-County Country Club stated that the main level of the clubhouse is "effectively a total loss."
