Deputies Nab Pomfret Man After Complaint of Horses in Roadway

A man in the Town of Pomfret who has a history of intentionally releasing horses onto local property was taken into custody Friday evening. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of horses in the roadway at an unnamed location in the town shortly after 8:00 PM and made contact with the horses' owner, 39-year-old Jacob Tye, who had an outstanding warrant. When deputies told Tye that he was under arrest, he allegedly tried to run from the area. However, Tye was apprehended and charged with reckless endangerment of property and resisting arrest. Tye was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail and arraigned on all charges. He is scheduled to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the State Police Pumpkin Patrol.
