Four Charged After Drugs, Stolen Gun Found in Lincoln Avenue Apartment

Four people are facing charges following a Monday afternoon raid of an apartment in Dunkirk's Fourth Ward. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says an investigation into narcotics activity led to a search of the upper apartment of 81 Lincoln Avenue shortly after 1:00 PM. Narcotics investigators from the Sheriff's Office and Jamestown Police Department executed a search warrant, with the Dunkirk Police Department's SRT Team making entry. 28-year-old Dakota Cordell of Dunkirk, 23-year-old Taylor Austin of Stockton, 36-year-old Matthew Eggleston of Fredonia and 55-year-old Robert Ryen of Dunkirk were located inside the apartment, and investigators seized 331.69 grams of methamphetamine, 5.35 grams of cocaine, 2.42 grams of crack cocaine, 14.55 grams of fentanyl, 79 dosage units of suboxone, scales and packaging material, a stolen .44 magnum revolver, and $4,908 in cash.

Cordell was charged with 2nd-, 3rd- and 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, 4th-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and 2nd-degree criminally using drug pararphernalia. Austin faces three counts of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, plus one count each of 2nd- and 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a firearm, 4th-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and 2nd-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Eggleston is charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and 4th-degree criminal possession of stolen property. And Ryen faces charges of 1st-degree criminal nuisance, 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and 4th-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Cordell and Austin were both transported to the Dunkirk Police Department to be arraigned in Dunkirk City Court, while Eggleston and Ryan were both issued appearance tickets and released. The Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
