A pair of Dunkirk High School students took home awards from Jamestown Community College's 3rd annual Health & Science Journalism Workshop. Yahir Robles and Suhliana Costa were among the participants in the workshop, with both receiving the Samuel Hopkins Adams Excellence in Journalism Award -- named after a Dunkirk native who was a pioneering investigative journalist whose groundbreaking work "The Great American Fraud" helped lead to the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906. Costa earned second place for her article on fitness trackers, while Robles received third place for his article on ultra-processed foods. Fellow students from Dunkirk's College Connection classes, along with students from Southwestern High School, also took part in the workshop.
