The Jamestown Airport will get a chunk of federal money for critical infrastructure improvements. Congressman Nick Langworthy announced Wednesday that the FAA has awarded the airport $5,710,373 through its Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The funds will support the final phase of a major runway rehabilitation and modernization project at the facility. The project includes rehabilitation of 4,075 feet of existing paved Runway 13/31 to maintain structural integrity, minimize foreign object debris, and extend the runway's operational lifespan. The grant will also fund reconstruction of runway lighting and signage systems that have reached the end of their useful life.
Langworthy, who chairs the Congressional Aviation Safety Caucus, says, "Maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure at our regional airports is critical to economic development, public safety, and connectivity across Western New York. This $5.7 million investment ensures the Chautauqua County-Jamestown Airport can continue serving residents, businesses, and visitors safely and efficiently for years to come."
