The Jamestown City Council this week approved a local law allowing the city to override New York State's 2% property tax cap in the 2027 budget. Lawmakers passed the measure by a 7-1 vote, with Councilman at Large Dan Gonzalez casting the lone "no" vote. However, a longtime council member says that will only be done if it's needed.
