Showers and Storms Dump Heavy Rain Over Parts of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus Counties

A period of showers and heavy thunderstorms dumped some significant rainfall over portions of Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties on Thursday. According to meteorologist Tony Ansuini with the National Weather Service in Buffalo, the precipitation caused some minor flooding issues and some ponding on roadways. Ansuini says one of the reports was from the New York State Mesonet in Fredonia, which recorded 1.79 inches of rain.
