An apartment house fire on Jamestown's west-side has temporarily left several residents without a home. Jamestown City Fire Battalion Chief Jason Winchester says crews were called to 408 Lafayette Street at around 12:15 PM and found a working structure fire. Winchester says flames were found near the back of the two-story structure on arrival...
Jason Winchester: The fire started on the second floor in the back of the building.
Winchester says crews were chasing "hot-spots" around the two apartments for about an hour. He says everyone inside got out without injuries and are being assisted by the local Red Cross. He says there was damage to both apartments...
Jason Winchester: The first floor was damaged mostly from water.
Winchester says most of the fire damage on the second-floor was to the closet area. He adds an off-duty shift of 12 firefighters and a shift commander were called in. Crews were at the scene until 2:30 PM. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
