
Chautauqua County has been awarded $332,066 in federal funding to support counterterrorism and emergency preparedness efforts. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the funding this week as part of nearly $140 million across New York State provided by FEMA through its Homeland Security Grant Program and its Emergency Management Performance Grant. The county's share of the funding includes the following:
- $107,162 from the State Homeland Security Program, which provides funding to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophic disasters
- $180,000 through the Operation Stonegarden Grant Program, which provides critical funding to enhance cooperation and coordination between federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies through the support of joint operations which are conducted along the northern border
- A $44,904 Emergency Management Performance Grant, which assists efforts ranging from development and implementation of training and exercises to acquiring emergency response resources at the county level
