A Lakewood man has been taken into custody following an investigation into a complaint of a stolen vehicle in the Village of Mayville. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies responded to Tops Markets on South Erie Street shortly after 12:30 PM Sunday and, on arrival, were told that the vehicle was possibly spotted on Hannum Road. Deputies located a person trying to hide in the woods and identified him as 50-year-old Glen Barrett, who allegedly provided a name belonging to another individual. The investigation found that Barrett was the person who allegedly took the vehicle. He was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment on charges of 3rd-degree grand larceny, 3rd-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, 2nd-degree criminal impersonation, and petit larceny.
