A Frewsburg man who served time in prison for child pornography will be heading back behind bars after admitting to possessing images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced Tuesday that 54-year-old Raymond Mason pleaded guilty to a federal charge of possession of obscene visual depictions following a prior conviction. The new conviction was the result of an investigation by the FBI.
U.S. Probation officers conducted a home visit at Mason's residence on July 15, 2024 and found an Internet-capable cell phone and tablet, which Mason was not allowed to possess. Prosecutors say a cursory review of the phone recovered visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. A forensic examination of the phone revealed more than 600 images, including computer-generated images, of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Investigators found that Mason obtained the computer-generated images over the Internet, some of which included prepubescent minors and depictions of violence or the sexual exploitation of an infant or toddler. Mason was previously convicted of possession of child pornography and attempted receipt of child pornography in February 2010 and was subsequently sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Mason's sentencing is scheduled for October 9th. He faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of 20 years.
