A Westfield man is facing charges after he allegedly used a metal rod to break the latch to the Westfield Electric Department substation on English Street in the village and entered the restricted enclosure. Westfield Police say they received a report of the incident shortly after 7:30 AM on June 15th, with an investigation finding that 67-year-old Donald Baker allegedly entered the area, which is restricted to all but authorized personnel due to it containing dangerous, high-voltage equipment. Baker was charged with 4th-degree criminal mischief and 3rd-degree criminal trespass. He was issued an appearance ticket for Westfield Town Court.
