Congressman Nick Langworthy says the House's passage of a bill aiming to protect children and teens online is an important step towards creating a "safer Internet." The Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act was approved in a 267-117 vote on Monday. Langworthy says the KIDS Act would give parents more control, strengthen privacy protections for children, update outdated online safety laws, and hold "Big Tech accountable for putting profits ahead of...kids' well-being." The Western New York Republican says, "As a father of two, I know parents -- not Big Tech -- should be in the driver's seat when it comes to protecting our kids online. Families deserve real tools to shield children from online predators, addictive algorithms, scams, dangerous and illegal products, explicit content, and the emerging risks posed by AI." The bill now heads to the Senate.
