Hochul Announces $100 Million for Law Enforcement Technology and Equipment

New York State will make a $100 million investment in law enforcement technology and equipment, most of which will be awarded through grants. Governor Kathy Hochul, who announced the investment on Monday, says $75 million will help police departments and sheriffs' offices more effectively solve and prevent crime, as well as improve officer and community safety. Hochul says the other $25 million will fund a new statewide records management system that will replace a decades-old platform, improving information sharing and streamlining reporting. The $100 million is part of this year's state budget.
