Chautauqua Bicyclist Struck by Vehicle Dies from Injuries

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says a 78-year-old bicyclist has died from injuries she suffered after getting struck by a vehicle in the Town of Chautauqua. The Sheriff's Office, along with Chautauqua Fire and County Emergency Services, responded to the scene on Chautauqua-Stedman Road shortly before 1:00 PM Thursday and found that 19-year-old Levi Graham of Ashville -- the driver of a southbound vehicle -- allegedly failed to safely pass the bicyclist, identified as Mary Hustead of Chautauqua. Hustead was transported by Mercy Flight to the Hamot Medical Center in Erie and later succumbed to her injuries. Graham was charged with failing to safely pass a bicyclist and will appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.
