ATV Operator Faces Leandra's Law Charge in Cattaraugus County Rollover

A Cold Spring resident has been hit with a slew of charges, including a Leandra's Law charge, after an investigation into an ATV rollover crash. Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies say 45-year-old Virgil Wolfe was taken into custody Saturday evening after an investigation. Deputies were initially called to the intersection of West Perimeter Road and Old Route 17, and they later located Wolfe and a small child who was on board the ATV with no helmet on. The Sheriff's Office says Wolfe was found to be intoxicated and later refused to provide a chemical test sample. Wolfe was charged endangering the welfare of a child, felony DWI under Leandra's Law, DWI, 1st-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, unregistered ATV, unlawfully operating an ATV on a highway, operating an ATV without insurance, operating an ATV without a helmet, unsafe tires on an ATV, and refusal to take a breath test. Wolfe was released with an appearance ticket and multiple traffic tickets and is due in Cold Spring Town Court at a later date.
