Grand Jury Indicts Jamestown Man for Murder in May Stabbing

A Chautauqua County grand jury has indicted a Jamestown man on charges stemming from a fatal stabbing that occurred on the city's north side in early May. Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced that a secret indictment was unsealed Monday morning in County Court, charging 27-year-old Robert Brinkley with 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree manslaughter and 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon. According to Schmidt, the charges were the result of an investigation into the "brutal and predatory attack" on 32-year-old Torry Kenny, who was stabbed in the area of Lakeview Avenue and East 8th Street on May 3rd. Schmidt says Brinkley entered a plea of not guilty, and Judge David Foley set bail at $1 million cash or $2 million property bond. A conference has been scheduled for Monday, August 17th. If convicted, Brinkley faces 25 years to life in prison.
