Firefighters Quickly Douse Flames at Condemned Prendergast Avenue House

Quick work by Jamestown firefighters contained flames to the back side of a condemned home on the city's north side Monday evening. City Fire Battalion Chief Dan Balling says crews were called to the scene at 625 Prendergast Avenue just after 7:30 PM and found heavy smoke from the rear of the structure. Balling says they had the flames under control in about five minutes, adding that the house had already sustained some damage before crews arrived...

Balling says no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. No cause has been determined.
