Hatchet-Waving Falconer Man Allegedly Threatens to Burn Down Apartment Building

A Falconer man is being held in the Chautauqua County Jail following an incident in which he allegedly waved a hatchet around, poured lighter fluid on an apartment floor, and threatened to burn the building down. Ellicott Town Police were called to an undisclosed location for a report of a disorderly person last Tuesday, July 21st. Officers arrested 45-year-old Michael Newman on charges of 1st-degree menacing and 2nd-degree harassment. He is scheduled to appear in Ellicott Town Court at a later date.
