Fredonia Pursuing $1 Million ESD Grant for North County Water Project

The Village of Fredonia is pursuing an additional $1 million from the state that would go towards its project to connect with the North County Water District. During a workshop on Monday, the Village Board passed a resolution authorizing an application for the Regional Economic Development Council capital grant money from Empire State Development. Two of the trustees voted against the measure. Ben Brauchler also voted in favor of the resolution, and Mayor Mike Ferguson cast the tiebreaking "yes" vote. Ferguson says the village has secured over $19 million for its North County Water Project so far and is waiting on word of potential funding from other sources. Trustee Christine Cruz-Keefe was absent from Monday's workshop.
