Jamestown's Comptroller Projecting Improved Sales Tax Revenues for 2nd Quarter

It appears sales tax revenues for the City of Jamestown in the 2nd quarter will be better than they were in the 1st quarter. City officials say the improved numbers will hopefully offset not-so-good figures in the first three months of 2026. City Comptroller Ericka Thomas is still waiting for final numbers for the 2nd quarter. However, for the first two months of the quarter -- April and May -- Thomas told the City Council that the numbers look good...

Ericka Thomas: will probably end up 5% higher

The city budgeted just over $9.2 million in sales tax revenues for all of 2026. Thomas also reported that the city's third-party auditing firm is beginning work on the 2025 city audit. She says the firm of Drescher & Malecki is able to start the audit much sooner than last year, so they may know how 2025 concluded as they begin work on the 2027 budget. Drescher & Malecki has done the city's third-party audit the past few years.
