Village Scraps Plans for Mobile Parking, Offers New Regulations

The Village of Fredonia is scrapping its plans for mobile app-based downtown parking and is offering a new proposal. Mayor Mike Ferguson announced Thursday afternoon that he and Trustee LeeAnn Lazarony are pitching an idea that involves eliminating all village parking meters completely and replacing them with "two-hour" parking signs. Mike Ferguson: not for everyone who parks in free spots

Lazarony says the anticipated revenue from permitted parking will help to compensate for the loss of the meter revenue. Ferguson says the new parking law will be written before an open public meeting on the proposal before the new law can be enacted.

Ferguson adds that a new "no parking law" for both sides of Forest Place will be part of the proposal. According to DPW Supervisor Jenness Merrill, the narrow road becomes even more difficult to traverse when a single car parks on the street, much less two or more, making it nearly impossible.
