Doug Switzer Named City of Dunkirk's New Police Chief

The City of Dunkirk has a new Chief of Police. On Monday, city lawmakers unanimously passed a walk-in resolution for the appointment of Doug Switzer to the chief's position. Switzer, who has been serving with the city's Police Department for more than 20 years, had been acting Chief since the retirement of Chris Witkowski in February. Mayor Kate Wdowiasz says she is excited about the appointment, which she calls "well deserved"...

Switzer's first public appearance as the new Police Chief will be during the city's celebration of National Night Out, which begins at 6:00 PM Tuesday in Washington Park.
