Four Cybersecurity Grants Awarded to Protect Chautauqua County Water Systems

New York State has awarded $9 million in grants to local government projects through a program that supports communities' efforts to bolster their cybersecurity posture against "increasingly sophisticated and dangerous" cyber threats while strengthening their water services. The list of 153 Strengthening Essential Cybersecurity for Utilities and Resiliency Enhancements (SECURE) grants, announced by Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday, include four for projects in Chautauqua County. The county has been awarded a pair of $70,000 grants for the North County Water District -- one of them is a SECURE assessment grant, and the other is for regional cybersecurity implementation. The City of Dunkirk will receive a $32,000 grant for its drinking water secure assessment project. And the Village of Westfield will get $43,072 for cybersecurity assessment.
