There have several reports of vehicles striking overpasses in the Dunkirk area this season with a section of Route 5 closed to traffic. The latest incident occurred late Friday night on Willow Road. In a Facebook post, the West Dunkirk Fire Department stated that its crews were returning from an EMS call shortly after 11:00 PM, when they saw a tractor-trailed that struck the railroad bridge next to the fire hall. JJ's Towing & Service and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office provided assistance at the scene.
