There has been a mix of changes in the average price at the gas pump at the national, state and local levels over the past week. According to AAA, Monday's national average price per gallon is $4.08, which is down nearly two cents from a week ago. Meanwhile, New York State saw its average per gallon climb by almost five cents to $4.21. And in Chautauqua County, the average is $4.28, which is up by a fraction of a cent. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.19 and $3.18, respectively.
AAA adds that there has been little movement on the crude oil front, with prices remaining elevated due to continued volatility in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices ranged from $85-90 per barrel as of Monday morning. Despite elevated fuel prices, Labor Day travel is expected to be strong, with travelers taking advantage of the last long holiday weekend of the summer season.

- Batavia - $4.20 (up two cents from last Monday)
- Buffalo - $4.22 (up one cent from last Monday)
- Elmira - $4.07 (up seven cents from last Monday)
- Ithaca - $4.22 (up one cent from last Monday)
- Rochester - $4.24 (up one cent from last Monday)
- Rome - $4.23 (up two cents from last Monday)
- Syracuse - $4.16 (up two cents from last Monday)
- Watertown - $4.24 (up four cents from last Monday)
