A Kennedy man with an active felony arrest warrant was taken into custody after a traffic stop in Cattaraugus County late Thursday night. Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies say 37-year-old Christopher Roper was a passenger in the vehicle that got pulled over for a violation on I-86 eastbound in the Town of Allegany. Deputies say they discovered the warrant for Roper out of the Ellicottville Police Department. After a search of Roper and the vehicle, deputies located quantities of suspected methamphetamine and crack cocaine. Roper was charged with felony counts of 4th- and 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was released with an appearance ticket for Allegany Town Court, then turned over to Ellicottville Police on his warrant. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was issued traffic tickets. K-9 Cash assisted with the investigation.
