Schmidt Proposes Forming Group to Monitor Potential Abuse of Flock Technology

Chautauqua County's top prosecutor says while he understands the issues and concerns raised by opponents of the controversial Flock cameras, he's not planning to give in to those objections. Instead, District Attorney Jason Schmidt is offering a proposal he believes will help use that technology "effectively, wisely, and respectfully." Schmidt's idea is to form a countywide monitoring group that would meet with him quarterly for purposes of ensuring against potential abuses of Flock's technology...

Schmidt announced his proposal after speaking at a Fredonia Village Board meeting and hearing from concerned residents. He believes his idea is a smarter approach as opposed to abandoning Flock technology altogether, but adds that the latter would not be ruled out...
